This course provides students with hands on experience in the kitchen, focusing on kid-friendly recipes, including pizza and baked goods. Culinary Arts allows your young chef to showcase his or her artistic ability while creating edible masterpieces. This is a great course for kids who always want to "help" in the kitchen!
This course will give kids the opportunity to make their very own discoveries of nature and the world around us, and hopefully find their own passion for science and discovery in the process.
3-5 YEARSChildren will explore how things grow and what makes them grow. We will also see how diverse the natural world is and just how different all the things that live and grow in our very own neighborhood can be.
6-9 YEARSChildren will take a microscopic look at things we see and use everyday like leaves and water and some of our own cells to see how different they look up close. We will also explore the nature of light and make some of our own equipment to see things that we might not normally be able to see. Finally, we will investigate some basic chemistry to see what happens when certain things get mixed together and the different forms that the same material (like water) can take. This last investigation just might include the making of ice cream!
Fine Arts encompasses 3 components:
Introduction to Music: Students will explore music and movement through singing and musical games. This course will also incorporate rhythmic exploration using basic "instruments".
Creative Movement: Children have the freedom to express themselves creatively through music and movement in this class. Children will work towards developing motor skills, musicality, spatial awareness, and listening skills through the use of a variety of media including scarves, bean bags, and hula-hoops. Each class ends with a brief yoga session in which several child-friendly poses are introduced. The teacher will then read a story, and children will listen for and complete the poses they hear.
Visual Art FUNdamentals: Children will explore many different types of media and methods of art making. Basic art concepts will be introduced.
